1973-1974
Circuit Attorney Project - In what would later become the Statewide Prosecutor's Appellate Assistance Service, Mr. Foltz began his career in Bloomington, IL assisting in the prosecutions of criminal cases in the 11th Judicial Circuit. During that time, he tried a number of felonies as well as writing briefs on appeal. .

1974-1976
 Logan County States Attorneys Office - Hired by State's Attorney, Roger Thompson, Mr. Foltz continued his is career as 1st Assistant State's Attorney. His areas of primary responsibility included felony prosecutions as well as juvenile court.

1976-1978
Woods & Bates - Mr. Foltz entered private practice in the fall of 1976 with the firm of Woods & Bates. For the firm, he handled a variety of legal matters including civil litigations, real estate transactions, wills, and estates.

1978-1994
Glasgow Law Office - In the spring of 1978, Mr. Foltz returned home to Monticello, IL to practice with Carl and William Glasgow. Adding a number of local governments to his practice area, Mr. Foltz continued to broaden his areas of general practice.

1994-1006
Glasgow & Foltz - In the spring of 1994, Mr. Foltz became a member of the firm. He continued to offer a broad area of legal services to Monticello and Piatt County.

2006-Present
John W. Foltz, P. C. - At the end of 2005, William Glasgow retired from the practice of law. Mr. Foltz acquired solo ownership of the firm and now practices as a solo practioner.
